How We're Doing.

Not sure how many days we've been in Texas so far, but I know I've been sweaty for most of them. Thank you, Texas, for the typical "welcome home." Most of our worldly possessions currently live in a storage unit while the rest live in a borrowed room. Times of transition are not my favorite, and I crave to feel settled and nestled in a space we can call our own. One day I feel motivated, working hard to make calls, send emails, fill out applications, and study for my nursing boards. Other days I scarcely brush my teeth and forget about taking off my pajamas. Ups and downs. Pretty typical for me and for our little family.

I'm currently rocking in chair on the front porch, goats to my left, and trees and a field in front of me. The pooches are wandering and the babe sleeps. It's quiet and still and peaceful. Just what my heart needs.

As we drove the long trek from Denver to Austin there were moments of panic, moments where I literally considered turning the car around to abort the move; moments when I wanted to punch my own eardrums out because I couldn't handle another moment of listening to a crying baby, and moments of pure fear and grief. Change is hard and sometimes it hurts, but within it can come sweet gifts, opportunities to grow, and renewal.

We continue to feel and believe that this move was the right decision for our family. We have such deep peace in our hearts even on the days that we miss our Denver family and the mountains. I'm hoping to have my nursing license before October is over, and we're close to finding our house. We quickly found a church that is going to kick us in the pants in the best of ways, and we're already almost half way through Chris' travel season. And I'm coming to realize peace and calm have less to do with outside circumstances and more about the internal state you cultivate with yourself.

Life is hard some days, but life is genuinely good. We rest secure in being exactly where we're supposed to be, and we are hopeful of what's to come. Before we left Colorado, we had a friend take the beautiful pictures below, and I'm finally getting around to posting my favorites. Enjoy!
