Here I Go.
I'm not really used to people seeing what I write. I take a small amount of pride in some of the things I have written, but I usually trust them to a select few or even keep them to myself. As life gets busier and louder, I find myself struggling to sit still with pen and paper and write. Often times when I sit still my mind is flooded with the million things I need to do so I can scratch conquering lines through my to do list. Reflection and stillness are often sacrificed in the hustle and bustle of life...so for a time I decide to type rather than write.
Writing and reflecting can have multiple purposes; some are for the writer and reflector while others are for the people who read upon what has been written. I am not deceived in thinking that my reflections, opinions, or thoughts will bestow a great blessing on the world, although I think some people create blogs solely for that purpose which turns out to be rather annoying. We live in a world where people are dying to be known and heard. My intention is not to be heard or known through this blog, and frankly I think technology can fool us into believing we are experiencing intimacy when in reality it is a false sense of connection. I write because I think it's important for our own heart to stop and think a while sometimes, and I think to be vulnerable, even to some degree is important. Sometimes our own flaws, vulnerabilities, or struggles opens up the door for someone else to feel as though they are not alone. We are too often deceived into believing that we are alone in our pain or oddities or feelings when this is hardly the case. We all have insecurities and ugly parts of ourselves. My hope is to grow through the process of reflection as well as challenge myself and others to be more open and honest without divulging every piece of my heart. So here's to trying something new and seeing how long it lasts!
